HOUSTON - A Precinct 4 deputy constable was grazed by a bullet while intervening in a suicide attempt Wednesday morning.
Police say they were responding to a suicide in progress on Meadow Run Dr shortly after 11 a.m. When deputies arrived, they found a 66-year-old man holding a gun to himself. Deputies tried to persuade the man to drop the gun. Ultimately, a deputy tased him.
As the man was being tased, he fired his gun. The bullet hit the inside of the home and ricocheted, hitting a deputy in the pant leg.
While the deputy's skin did not appear to be broken, he was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The man turned the gun on himself and died at the scene.
