2 dead after house fire that needed 75 firefighters, fire marshal says

Investigators say a woman escaped the fire, but ran back inside to wake her boyfriend.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Two people are dead following a house fire in a north Harris County that started Saturday night, according to the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office.

The fire happened in the 11400 block of Milners Point Drive around 8 p.m.

Crews say they arrived to a home on fire with heavy smoke showing from the attic.

Fire Chief Wesley Cole says when they tried to get in the home, the heat from the fire pushed crews out.

Once inside the home, the bodies of two deceased individuals were found, according to Cole. Both bodies were found in the living area of the house.

According to the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, the victims were identified as a man and woman who lived in the home.

The woman escaped the fire, but went back inside to wake her boyfriend who was sleeping, according to investigators.

Firefighters say approximately 75 firefighters were on scene to help put out the fire from five different departments.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the investigators say it originated in the garage.

An investigation into what started the fire is ongoing.
