HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating a deadly three-vehicle crash on Westheimer that happened Wednesday morning.
By noon, the debris had been cleared from the crash site near the South Dairy Ashford Road intersection.
Investigators said the crash happened just before 5 a.m. when a blue Mazda and a white Ford were heading north on Dairy Ashford and had a green light as they crossed Westheimer. Officers said a gray Ford Fusion that was speeding westbound on Westheimer ran a red light and hit the vehicles.
Officials said the Ford Fusion ended up in a parking lot and hit a building column before bursting into flames. Police said the driver of the Ford Fusion died at the scene. They also said the driver of the Mazda was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive while the driver of the white Ford was able to walk away from the crash with minor injuries.
Investigators said they would check surveillance cameras to see exactly what happened.
