HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Two people are dead after a fiery crash in east Harris County Saturday night, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
The crash happened on Wallisville Road near Greens Bayou and Highway 90.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office released an update Sunday morning, saying the driver of a gray Honda Accord was heading eastbound on Wallisville Road and was straddling the divider line. At some point, the Honda hit a Ram 1500 driving in the other direction and started spinning. A driver in black Chrysler Pacifica saw the Honda spinning and tried to avoid it. However, the Honda still hit the Chrysler before also hitting a blue Hyundai Sonata.
The Honda caught fire after the crash with two people trapped inside. The two people were pronounced dead at the scene. They have yet to be identified.
HCSO said the driver of the Hyundai showed signs of intoxication and was taken to an area hospital. They said he also had a handgun on him. HCSO said that driver may be charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful carrying of a weapon, pending toxicology results.
The two other drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to the sheriff's office.
