CYPRESS, Texas — A mother is hoping Cypress-Fairbanks ISD takes action after her daughter was hit in a school parking lot and pinned between two cars.
"She has been in a lot of pain. Flashbacks of what happened," Netisha Walton said about her daughter, Morgan.
Walton said her daughter was walking out of school Thursday when another student hit her in the parking lot of Cypress Park High School.
"His shoe had slipped and he actually hit the gas peddle which pinned her in between another car, trying to reverse his shoe hit again. He hit the accelerator and hit her twice," Walton said.
Walton said she left work and rushed to her daughter’s side, finding Morgan on the ground with no help in sight.
"Because I just, I know she was in a lot of pain for 20 minutes no one was helping her at that time. As a mother your instinct is to get in and try to help the best way you can," she said.
Walton said the district cut her daughter’s bus route at the start of the year, forcing Morgan to find another way home. Now, she wishes the district would implement better safety measures for students.
"At least if they have more police out there, they have more staff out there or cross guards showing that hey, this is for pedestrians to walk out there," Walton said.
Now, the single mother of four is not only dealing with her daughter’s pain but also the financial burden.
"I don’t have the money right now to take her. I just need some help with the medical bills," Walton said.
KHOU 11 News reached out to Cy-Fair ISD and this was their response:
On Thursday (not Friday as you indicated), an auto-pedestrian accident occurred around the time of dismissal in the student parking lot of Cypress Park High School. The incident is under investigation, and I don’t have any additional details.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family.
