FRIENDSWOOD, Texas - An elderly couple was hit by a vehicle in front of Brookside Intermediate School Wednesday evening, according to police.
The woman was killed in the accident and the man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The man later died.
The accident happened along FM 528 near Bay Area blvd. The school apparently had two events held there Wednesday evening, a boys basketball game and a concert. The two victims were crossing the street in front of the school when they were hit by an oncoming vehicle.
The driver involved in the accident stayed at the scene and did cooperate with police. We're told the driver did consent to a blood test. Friendswood Police are currently investigating and trying to figure out exactly what happened.
Clear Creek ISD issued a statement about the accident and said the school will have counselors on hand on Thursday to address what happened. The identities of the victims have not yet been released by police.
