HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Some deputy constables are hitting the streets in sporty new vehicles.
Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said his office will soon add a number of Chevrolet Camaros to the fleet.
The new vehicles will primarily be used for traffic enforcement and are more maneuverable than larger sedans or SUVs.
“This vehicle is smaller and more compact, and it’ll be a lot more efficient than those vehicles when it comes to working traffic enforcement and catching up more quicker to the violators and making a safe traffic stop,” Herman said.
Herman said the Camaros may cost more than sedans but less than larger SUVs.
The two-door cars are not meant for prisoner transport.
