HOUSTON — An argument between a couple turned into a chase and crash in north Harris County.
Deputies said this all started around 3:30 a.m.
According to a post on X from Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, a man left the couple’s home in a vehicle after the argument and the woman got into a separate vehicle and started to chase him. It is not clear if they are married, but they do have a child together.
Gonzalez said the woman rammed the man’s vehicle near Aldine Bender and Aldine Westfield, causing a crash that led to the man hitting an awning and driving off the road.
Both the man and woman were taken to the hospital. The man was reported to be in good condition. Gonzalez said the woman was in surgery and in critical condition.
Deputies at the scene said the couple, who are in their 30s to 40s, have a child together. They did not know the whereabouts of the child.
"If you’re having issues with your spouse, remember the broader impact. This situation not only disrupted the public by obstructing roadways, but it also affects their child, who has to endure witnessing violence," HCSO Capt. McConnell said. "This kind of escalation doesn’t usually happen out of nowhere; it often builds up over time. There are resources available—counselors, community services, even divorce, if necessary. Churches and other organizations can support you, whether that’s helping with your marriage or assisting you in leaving it. But it doesn’t need to escalate to this point, and a child should not have to see this type of violence."
Investigators also mentioned there were bullet holes on the side of the truck, but are not sure if they are connected to this incident.
Deputies said the woman in this case could face aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge in connection with the crash.
This is a developing story. We will post updates as we get them.
