CenterPoint reports power outages on West End of Galveston Island

According to CenterPoint, hundreds of residents are without power on Monday night as Hurricane Nicholas approaches the coast.

GALVESTON, Texas — CenterPoint Energy is reporting power outages on the West End of Galveston Island on Monday night.

The Gulf Coast is bracing for Tropical Storm Nicholas' arrival. The storm is expected to bring a lot of rain and tropical-storm-force winds to Houston and surrounding areas.

TUESDAY UPDATE: More than 200,000 CenterPoint customers reportedly without power across Houston region early Tuesday morning, read more here

The storm was upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane on Monday night.
