HOUSTON — CenterPoint Energy continues to work to restore power outages across the Houston area, and on Monday night, they released an interactive map. But it’s an interactive map that by CenterPoint’s own messaging, isn’t completely accurate.
We asked for an explanation.
We posted a link to the map on Tuesday morning for people to be able to find estimates of when they’ll get the power back. Shortly after we did, we got messages from people who were telling us the map was not accurate. And they were right.

At some point Tuesday, CenterPoint added the message you see below to the map that explained that there “may be some inaccuracies at the individual address level.”
KHOU 11’s Julissa Garza asked CenterPoint’s Logan Anderson about the inaccuracies, who echoed the message.
“That map is something we’ve had had to build from the ground up just from the beginning of this storm response because of the increased demand on our outage tracker website that normally can provide street level updates and circuit level updates for all customers,” Anderson said.
Anderson said just because people don’t see themselves on the map, it doesn’t mean CenterPoint doesn’t know the outages.
“The map is not an accurate reflection that we have in our system, but it is the most detailed information that we can give out at this time,” she said.
