Watch as big rig slams into car during hit-and-run along Beltway 8

Kennard Robinson and his wife are praying video helps police connect the dots and find the driver responsible.

HOUSTON — A Houston man came within inches of getting killed when a big rig plowed into his car and fled.

It happened on the Beltway feeder road at Little York Road in northwest Houston. The violent accident was caught on camera.

"I was just happy to be on the way home," said Kennard Robinson.

Robinson was just two minutes away from home. He waited at the red light. When it turned green, he did what we all do and started driving.

"I just saw something flying and coming quickly and was like what the-," said Robinson.

Seconds later a semi-truck blows through the red light barreling into Kennard's white car.

"He just hit me and cleaned me out," said Robinson. "All I remember was I passed out."

His wife Brittany was blocks away and waiting for him to get home.

"Getting that call, my heart sank," said Brittany.

Kennard was on the phone, shaken, alive, but banged up.

"I'm scared to even go out and drive," said Kennard. "I'm blessed to be here. My life could have been taken in seconds. I'm thankful I'm still here."

Now Kennard and Brittany's focus turned to finding the driver who hit him and didn't stop to help.

"It's despicable honestly," said Brittany. "How could someone be going that fast and have no regard for someone's life? Every time I watch that video, it's a gut punch."

Dashcam video is one of a few clues HPD has to work with as it investigates who was behind the wheel. Another angle of the hit-and-run from gas station surveillance cameras is seen in a new video obtained by KHOU 11 News.

Kennard and his wife pray it helps police connect the dots.

"We're not going to rest until we see this case entirely through," said Brittany. "To whoever this person is, do the right thing and turn yourself in."

Kennard has a few more medical tests to run later this week but should make a full recovery. If you know anything about this hit-and-run accident, call Houston police.
