Cars, homes flooded in Tomball after Friday's storms

TOMBALL, Texas - High water had its way in the Tomball area after several creeks over-ran their banks and transformed many roads into rivers.

Harris County sheriff’s deputies commandeered a military vehicle to plow through the rapids along Mueschke road.

The deputies came upon a partially submerged vehicle. Witnesses said the driver, who was the only occupant, had already made it out safely.

Neighbor, Alec Deleon, saw the driver escape just in time. “I guess they panicked and they got out through the passenger side because the water was jamming the driver’s side door,” said Deleon.

In the midst of Friday’s deluge, another resident, Paul Hudson, was dealt a major hardship.

He showed KHOU 11 News pictures of his flooded Magnolia home. The property on Pipe Stem drive had suffered the same fate six weeks ago during the tax day flood.

Hudson had been staying away and was hoping to move back in soon.

“They textured the walls,” said Hudson. “They just hung our brand new doors and today, they were supposed to start doing the trim work. Now we have to start all over.”

We're told high water has also caused problems at local schools.

Eighty nine students at three different schools in Tomball will have to spend the night on campus because of flooding.

The schools are Tomball High School, Rosehill Elementary and Decker Prairie Elementary.
