HOUSTON — Airports are flooded with travelers every holiday. If you are taking to the skies, give yourself plenty of time to get to your destinations.
George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is anticipating heavy traffic on select days over the next ten days. Thanksgiving is traditionally a busy travel time.
Bush Airport announced one traffic improvement that will help ease the congestion. The entrance to the airport on North Terminal Road is back to four lanes. The lane next to the terminal was reopened.
Bush Airport forecasts particularly heavy traffic on these dates:
- Thursday, Nov. 21
- Friday, Nov. 22
- Sunday, Nov. 24
- Wednesday, Nov. 27
- Sunday, Dec. 1
The airport recommended that travelers take extra time to navigate the airport, get through security and make their flight.
Bush Airport also announced the opening of a sensory room in Terminal D near gate D5. This space is open to travelers of any age. There is also a sensory room in Terminal A. Sensory rooms also people who are neurodivergent to avoid sensory overload with control of lights, sounds and vibrating sensations.
