HOUSTON — Some of the restrooms inside Bush Intercontinental Airport's Terminals A and D will soon be getting a facelift.
That's after the Federal Aviation Administration gave the airport a $5,490,000 grant to expand, reconstruct and modernize at least 10 restrooms on the secured side of Terminals A and D.
The Houston Airport System said Terminal A is one of the two original terminals at IAH, which opened in 1969. Remodeling to Terminal D restrooms is already in the works through the replacement of flooring, furniture, lighting and paint.
In the past year, the Houston Airport System has received five grants, including this one, from the FAA to update its facilities.
- In March 2023, the FAA gave Bush Airport nearly $10 million to replace aging infrastructure and upgrade restrooms.
- In July 2023, the FAA awarded Bush and Hobby airports a total of $12 million for sustainability projects.
- In November 2023, the FAA awarded Houston Airports more than $40 million in funding to update the airfield at Hobby Airport.
- In December 2023, the FAA awarded Houston Airports $30 million to update its Houston Fire Department facilities.
