Sheriff: Possible signs of foul play after woman's body recovered from Sheldon Lake

It's unclear at this time if the body found was related to an SUV that was recovered from Sheldon Lake on Friday.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An investigation is underway after a woman's body was found in the Sheldon Lake reservoir, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

Editorial note: The sheriff initially said the body was that of an adult male.

The body was found early Saturday morning at the reservoir on Garrett Road which is just east of Beltway 8.

Details are limited at this time, but it's unclear if the body found was related to an SUV that was recovered from Sheldon Lake on Friday. According to Gonzalez, divers recovered a GMC Yukon from the reservoir that was unoccupied and had previously been reported stolen.

"It doesn't mean there's still not a connection to the vehicle, but we're saying it doesn't appear the person exited the vehicle and made it here," Gonzalez said. "We don't think the two are connected."

The sheriff said investigators found possible signs of foul play and that their investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story, we'll update this post as we get more information.
