LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas — A vehicle with a body inside was found during the search for a missing woman Sunday in Liberty County.
The identity will have to be confirmed by a medical examiner.
Jennifer Scott-Perkins was last seen on Jan. 2 leaving her Houston home to go visit a friend.
Texas EquuSearch was actively searching near the Trinity River off FM 787 on Sunday when sonar technology picked up a vehicle with a body inside.
The Liberty County Sheriff's Office said in one of Perkins' last cellphone calls, Perkins indicated she might her own life. Her cellphone was pinged near the 787 bridge.
That's the information that led searches to the area where the vehicle was pulled from the water.
Two weeks ago, Texas EquuSearch sonar operator Dennis Waters tried to use sonar to scan the bottom of the river near a paved ramp.
But swift currents and flooded conditions prevented a successful attempt due to the dangerous flooded conditions. The water level eventually dropped to a safe level to attempt another sonar search and a vehicle matching the description of Perkins' was found and pulled from about 35 feet of water.
EquuSearch released a statement asking to pray for Perkins' family, friends and community.
