TRINITY COUNTY, Texas — A man was found dead Thursday in floodwaters in Trinity County, deputies said. The discovery was made after heavy rain pounded the area for more than 72 hours.
The Trinity County Sheriff's Office said Roy Beauchamp, 74, was reported missing Wednesday night after he attempted to walk to his flooded vehicle to get some things.
Several agencies joined the search for Beauchamp, whose body was found in swift water at about midnight Thursday.
The Trinity County Sheriff's Office said thousands of dollars of damage to roads and infrastructure were impacted by the torrential rain that hit the area.
Thursday afternoon, deputies urged caution when traveling paved and unpaved roads in Trinity County.
"Washouts are still being created as runoff continues and trees are falling across roadways and fences with more rain expected next week," the sheriff's department posted to its Facebook.
