A group of motorcycle riders say there's more to them than leather and chains.

HOUSTON - Revving their engines, for these friends is always a thrill.

"I've been riding since I was 21 years old, said Bobby Stroka, a Patriot Guard Rider.

"The common thread is the motorcycle," said John LePage, another Patriot Guard Rider. However, far away from the biker gang shooting in Waco.

"They will tend to give you a little double take," said LePage. They are already used to people being wary.

"When you think of biker, you think of tattoos, you think of big rough tough fighting kinda of guys," said Tom Berleth, with the Patriot Guard Riders.

These riders say there's more to them than leather and chains.

"We are a group of people, who want to come out and do the right thing, which is honor our fallen heroes," said Stroka.

However, it's that mission that gets overshadowed by biker gang violence making headlines.

"I hope it goes away real fast," said Ben Jones, a Patriot Guard Riders. "The longer it's around, the more people will start leaning that way about bikers in general."

The Patriot Riders have done more work in the last few years to get their name out. They say when events like Waco happen, they just have to work harder.
