HOUSTON — Police have confirmed that the bicyclist hit and killed by an 18-wheeler in southwest Houston Thursday was a 64-year-old woman.
The woman was riding a bike northbound on South Gessner when she attempted to cross the Southwest Freeway service road intersection, police said.
At the same time, the driver of an 18-wheeler, also traveling northbound on South Gessner, began turning onto the Southwest Freeway service road, according to police.
The woman was hit by the 18-wheeler’s trailer.
The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication.
No charges have been filed. The woman's identity has not been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
