Part of highway in Baytown buckles under Houston heat

TxDOT said they did emergency patchwork after getting the call about the buckled road. They planned to return to do a permanent fix.

BAYTOWN, Texas — All of Harris County was under a heat advisory on Sunday and Monday. And it’s not just taking its toll of people.  Roads are feeling the heat, as well.

That includes a road in Baytown that buckled, apparently from the heat. Samantha K. shared video that showed a big issue with Highway 146 near Main Street.

As  you could see in the video, part of the road was damaged. The Texas Department of Transportation told us they got the call about the buckled road on the southbound side of the highway at 6:30 p.m. Sunday night.

By 3 a.m., TxDOT said they had completed a temporary patch. They said they’ll go back again to do permanent repairs on the road.
