Traffic stop leads to arrest of man, woman now being investigated for burglaries of post offices across Houston area

They were arrested in League City and were charged with fraudulent use/possession of identifying information after stolen mail was recovered, LCPD says.

BAYTOWN, Texas — A traffic stop in League City led to the arrest of a man and woman now being investigated for burglaries of post offices across the Houston area.

The man and woman have not been identified due to an ongoing investigation. League City police charged them with fraudulent use/possession of identifying information after stolen mail was recovered during their arrest. The man was given an $80,000 bond and the woman was given a $50,000 bond. 

The Baytown Police Department and U.S. Postal Inspectors had been looking for the people responsible for burglarizing the Baytown post office on W. Baker Road

Video surveillance picked up the suspect's vehicle, identified as a rental box truck. The license plate on the truck was entered into a license plate reader system where investigators later tracked it to League City. 

Baytown police coordinated with League City police to stop the rental truck for traffic violations That's when the man and woman were arrested. Several articles of stolen mail, which included packages and identifying information, along with other stolen merchandise, were found, according to LCPD.

The identities of the man and woman will be released once Baytown police and the U.S. Postal Inspectors file their own charges.
