AT&T waiving overage fees amid power outages, storm cleanup in Houston

Hundreds of thousands of residents in the Houston area are still without power as clean-up begins following Thursday's devastating storm.

HOUSTON — AT&T is waiving overage fees for its customers as hundreds of thousands remain out of power following the deadly storm that rolled through Houston Thursday.

Thursday's storm knocked out power, damaged structures and scattered debris everywhere. At least four people were killed.

"Our thoughts are with those impacted by severe weather in Texas. To help our wireless customers stay connected through this difficult time, we are waiving overage charges to provide unlimited talk, text and data," an AT&T spokesperson said.

AT&T said it is waiving the fees for its postpaid and prepaid customers with billing addresses in zip codes across the impacted communities through May 26.

A list of zip codes where the fees will be waived can be found at go.att.com/setxstorms.

AT&T said any of its customers experiencing issues with their service can reach them at att.com, on the myAT&T app or over the phone at (800) 288-2020. The company said its wireline customers can also visit att.com/outages to sign up for one-time service restoration alerts.
