Four-legged surfers will be hanging 20 in Galveston this weekend. The 4th Annual Surfing Dog Competition takes place just west of Pleasure Pier Sunday morning.
Some of the dogs in the competition will be available for adoption for a $25 fee.
“You get a dog. You get 'em fixed, microchipped, rabies, vaccinations, flea, heartworm preventative, all that good stuff,” said Dani Gavin of the Galveston Island Humane Society.
The $25 entry fee for the competition also benefits the Galveston Island Humane Society.
The dogs hit the surf beginning at 9 a.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
