TENINO, Wash. -- Five little red wolf pups at Wolf Haven International ventured outside of their den this week. Staff say the pups are just five weeks old.
Wolf Haven officials say they won’t know which pups are girls or boys until about eight weeks.

They aren’t on the public route yet, so visitors will have to keep up with the non-profit’s Facebook page to see cute pup updates.
This is Wolf Haven’s third litter of red wolves.

The family is part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services’ Red Wolf Species Survival Plan program.
Staff say the pups will stay at Wolf Haven for at least a year.
“U.S. Fish and Wildlife aren’t currently releasing red wolves into the wild so they will likely remain in captivity, but whether or not they stay at Wolf Haven will depend upon the needs of the program,” staff said on their Facebook page.
