HOUSTON - Fifteen miniature horses and Shetland ponies found in deplorable conditions are now available for adoption at the Houston Humane Society.
The horses and ponies are among nearly 300 animals seized from a property in Grimes County where authorities say they were found Aug. 15 in deplorable conditions.
The Houston Humane Society says after nearly two months of medical care, dental work, multiple hoof trimmings and a special diet, 15 horses are ready for adoption.

According to the Houston Humane Society, several of the dogs found on the property have been adopted in Houston, and others have been transferred to rescue partners. There are still 50 dogs available for adoption and 25 in need of a foster home for socialization.
Anyone interested in adopting one of the horses can download an application here and submit it to adoptions@houstonhumane.org. A meet-and-greet appointment is required for adopting livestock animals.
