HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- Harris County confirms 9 human cases of West Nile. Spraying is set for Thursday on 138,000 acres.

According to health officials, there are six confirmed human cases of West Nile in Montgomery County.

The confirmed cases are a man in his 60s, a male teenager and a woman in her 50s. The woman is currently in ICU.

According to health officials, up to 80 percent of people infected with West Nile virus will have no symptoms. However, some cases result in serious illness or death.

Just last year, health officials reported 183 human cases of West Nile in Texas and 14 deaths.

Health officials say mosquito repellent with DEET is the best defense against the virus.
