HOUSTON – A motorcycle rider is dead and two other motorists are recovering in the hospital Saturday after a six-car pile-up on the East Freeway near Sheldon.
Witnesses said two men were speeding down the left shoulder in a pick-up truck when they crashed into the motor cyclist and the back end of a Cadillac.
That caused a chain reaction. The accident happened around 10:30 p.m.
The motorcycle rider was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he later died.
Witnesses said after the crash the men immediately got out of the truck and took off.
"I just felt, I think two people hit me, I'm not really sure it all happened fast. It hit me and pushed me in the middle lane, I hit the car in front of me...I got out, I had to crawl out the passenger side," one victim said.
Police are still searching for the two men who were seen running from the scene.
