HOUSTON - Police and paramedics responded to the scene of a Metro bus crash where multiple injuries were reported.
The crash happened in the 2000 block of Runnels St., where the bus crashed into a truck and a traffic sign.
“The information we have is there was a vehicle that failed to yield to oncoming traffic. There was an accident between that vehicle and our bus. That resulted in the scene you see here,” said Jerome Gray, a spokesperson for Metro.
According to HFD, 28 people were transported to the hospital and one person sustained critical injuries.
Four others were hurt, but declined to be transported to the hospital.

KHOU 11 News talked to one of the few bus passengers who was not injured in the accident.
“We hit once, twice, a third time. The truck was airborne. We went into that railing and sign, and then stopped immediately,” said Roy Morrison.
Morrison said he opened the emergency exit and helped others to safety after the accident.
A Metro spokesperson said the bus driver is female. She was extricated from the bus, and is in stable condition in the hospital. They said more information was not immediately available about her driving record.
Officials said the Metro bus does have working cameras, so on board video will be used as part of the investigation.
