GALVESTON, Texas — Five workers had injuries after an explosion at a container terminal in Galveston Thursday, according to police.
The incident happened at about 3 p.m. There were five workers who were hurt, according to Kurt Koopman, the Galveston police spokesperson.
Galveston firefighters responded to the scene but did not locate active fire or any leaks. Three of the workers had burns and two workers had other kinds of injuries, according to a spokesperson with the Galveston Fire Department.
The workers were welding a pipe that connects to a flare at the Texas International Terminals when a flash fire sparked, according to the City of Galveston Office of Emergency Management spokesperson.
The workers were taken to the hospital to be checked out.
The Galveston Fire Marshal would investigate the incident.
