KHOU news director, general manager honored with TEGNA Employee Awards

News Director Sally Ramirez was named TEGNA Employee of the Year, and General Manager Susan McEldoon was honored as Manager of the Year.

HOUSTON — Two of KHOU 11 News’ leaders were honored Tuesday for going above and beyond while standing for Houston after Hurricane Harvey.

News Director Sally Ramirez was named TEGNA Employee of the Year, and General Manager Susan McEldoon was honored as Manager of the Year. KHOU's Kaelin Bruzzone was also a finalist for Sales Executive of the Year.

Employees inside KHOU’s temporary newsroom celebrated in Houston while Ramirez and McEldoon accepted the awards at TEGNA’s headquarters in McLean, Va.

As one of our company leaders said, “KHOU, much like Houston, went to hell and back during Harvey” with the flooding of our entire building on Allen Parkway.

KHOU is still at its temporary home on the University of Houston campus and will move into its new building at the start of 2019.
