HOUSTON — Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Brown University, Stanford University. A Houston senior has his pick of some of the most prestigious colleges in the country.
Jeramy Botwe, a senior at the Harmony School of Advancement in north Houston, applied to 15 colleges and was accepted by all 15. Eight of them are Ivy League schools, considered the cream of the crop.
The universities include: Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Brown, Rice, Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Penn, Duke, the University of Chicago, University of Texas, and the University of Houston.
He has until May 1 to make a decision about which college he will attend.
Botwe, who carries a 4.51 GPA, will be valedictorian of the Harmony School of Advancement "Class of 2019."
In 2018, he took part in a three-month research program at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in Cambridge, Mass. that studied bacterial species of the human body. After graduation, he plans to study pre-med at whichever college he chooses.
Ultimately, he wants to be a doctor and focus his research to help find a cure for diseases, like MS and ALS.
Botwe was raised by his father, Kenneth, a single dad originally from Ghana who moved to the U.S. as a teen to join the Air Force. Botwe credits his success to old fashion hard work and says he studies at least two hours a day.
