Happy birthday to The Gambler.
Country music legend Kenny Rogers turns 80 today. He was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Houston.
2017 was a big year for Rogers. In October he was honored with a star on the Music City Walk of Fame. The next day he performed and was honored by stars including Kris Kristofferson, Chris Stapleton, Lionel Richie and Dolly Parton at the "All in for the Gambler: Kenny Rogers' Farewell Concert Celebration" at Bridgestone Arena.
Six months later, though, Rogers was forced to cancel all of his 2018 concerts due to a "series of health challenges."
Rogers, whose hits include "The Gambler," "Lucille" and the Parton duet "Islands in the Stream," has sold more than 100 million albums and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013.
