GALVESTON Four young adults out for a joy ride were thrown from an open-top Jeep Wrangler on Monday when the driver lost control on a Galveston beach and the vehicle flipped, authorities said.
Although none of the occupants was wearing a seat belt, all escaped life-threatening injuries in the wreck shortly after 1 p.m. just west of the East Beach pavilion, Galveston police officer Jeremy Smart said.
Ambulances took the four young adults to the University of Texas Medical Branch for treatment. Their names and medical conditions weren t immediately available. The Jeep s license plates show it is registered to an address in northwest Houston.
