KATY, Texas —  A Harmony School student was arrested for making a terroristic threat, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

The 14-year-old allegedly bought plans for a 3-D printed gun online for $5 and then gave the plans to a friend who printed the gun parts with a 3D printer.

The student sent a picture of the gun to a classmate and told her not to go to school the next day.

That student told school staff who informed the sheriff's office.

Deputies said with his parents' permission, they searched the 14-year-old's bedroom and found the gun.

Deputies said the gun was not functional as the trigger and hammer were solid plastic. The parts did not move and were super-glued together.

The student was arrested and taken to the Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention Center.

“We take every school threat seriously”, said Sheriff Troy Nehls. “I applaud the student who immediately informed her teacher so action could be taken.”
