FRIENDSWOOD, Texas Family Circle magazine has named Friendswood one of the 10 best towns for families in the United States.
Friendswood, which came in at the No. 5 spot on the list, is the only Texas town to receive the honor.
The magazine assembled a list of 2,500 cities and towns with populations between 15,000 and 150,000 and assessed which places best met their family-friendly criteria. Those criteria included low crime rates, affordable homes, quality schools, financial stability, access to health care, green space and volunteerism.
According the Family Circle survey, the 10 best towns are:
1 St. Charles, Ill.
2 Peachtree City, Ga.
3 Liberty, Mo.
4 Fairhope, Ala.
