HOUSTON - Those planning to visit Hermann Park this holiday weekend should expect traffic delays and detours.
There were already extra police, detour signs and plenty of people at Hermann Park and the Houston Zoo on Saturday.
In years past, the sheer number of folks pouring into the park has gotten so large that police have closed off all roads leading into it.
If and when that happens, there will be heavy delays on Highway 288 at the park exits and on Almeda Street near N. Mac Gregor.
Authorities are urging people to take a Metro bus or rail to get to Hermann Park and the Houston Zoo.
There will also be plenty of street closures due to the Freedom Over Texas festival in Eleanor Tinsley Park.
