Houston-area school closings, delays, early releases due to flood concerns

A few school districts in the Greater Houston area have announced closures and delays because of the heavy rainfall.

HOUSTON — Heavy rain continues to cause flooding issues in counties north of Houston so some school districts have announced closures or delays.

School closings

Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated ISD: Closed Thursday due to flooding concerns; students were already scheduled to be out Friday so they'll return to class on Monday; the district also released early Wednesday at the request of the San Jacinto County Office of Emergency Management. 

Shepherd ISD:  "The Shepherd School District will be closed Thursday due to flooding concerns. Students were already scheduled to be off Friday so they will return to class on Monday," the Shepherd ISD's Facebook page said; the district also released early Wednesday at the request of the San Jacinto County Office of Emergency Management. 

School delays 

Conroe ISD: Schools will start two hours later on Thursday, Superintendent Curtis Noll posted on YouTube.

Montgomery ISD: Schools will start two hours later on Thursday.

Waller ISD: Schools will start two hours later on Thursday.

Livingston ISD: Schools will start two hours later on Thursday.

Magnolia ISD: Schools will start one hour later on Thursday.

Goodrich ISD: Schools will start two hours later on Thursday.

Willis ISD: Schools will start two hours later on Thursday.
