He will teach one class during the spring semester and two classes next fall.

HOUSTON - Outgoing Harris County Judge Ed Emmett will soon take up teaching, he announced on Tuesday.

Emmett said he has accepted an offer letter from Rice University and will be a non-tenured professor and senior fellow beginning January 1, 2019.

He will teach one class during the spring semester and two classes next fall.

The first class will be taught at the Kinder Institute on the inside of the state legislature and it's unclear at this time what he will teach in the two classes next fall.

This is a developing story and it will be updated here as more information comes in.
