HOUSTON — Houston ISD released its proposed calendar for the 2024-2025 school year on Wednesday.
The proposed calendar has classes starting on Aug. 12 and ending on June 4, 2025, making for a longer school year. For the 2023-2024 school year, the first day of classes was Aug. 28 and the last day of classes is June 5. 2024.
The plan for the longer school year was implemented when HISD became a District of Innovation.
This calendar will not be final until the school board approves it. The school board is scheduled to consider this proposed calendar during a meeting on Feb. 8.
