DICKINSON, Texas A teenager once sentenced to life in prison had his capital murder conviction overturned, but his retrial as a 20-year-old ended Wednesday with the same result.
Litrey Demond Turner, a co-defendant in the Aug. 21, 2006, robbery and slaying of a Dickinson convenience store clerk, still will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Turner was 15 when he was charged in the shooting death of Phuong Thi Lam, 55. Lam was shot once in the abdomen after a violent struggle over her purse, which was partially captured on surveillance as she closed Storekeepers Mini Mart, 3112 Lobit Drive.
