David's Blog: San Jacinto River Update

The west fork of the San Jacinto River has risen to 'moderate' flood stage. That's due to heavy rains that fell Wednesday night. This level will inundate parks, roads and land next to the river, but will not flood homes and should begin to drop Thursday morning.

This map from the Harris County Flood Control District shows the San Jacinto River watershed in Montgomery county. I've highlighted in blue the east and west fork of the San Jacinto River as they feed into Lake Houston (circled). You can also see the widespread 3"-4" rain totals across the county that has led to todays rise in river levels.
