HOUSTON The estranged wife of a Houston firefighter admitted to a judge Thursday that she did try to hire someone to kill her husband.
Brittany Martinez pleaded guilty to solicitation of capital murder.

According to court documents, she tried to have her husband, Adrian Martinez, killed between January 17, 2012 and March 4, 2012.
The information came to prosecutors through a restaurant manager at the Casa Ole located in the 5900 block of Highway 6 in northwest Harris County.
The manager told prosecutors that the Martinez family frequents the restaurant and he is friends with Brittany Martinez.
According to court documents, on January 17, 2012, Brittany Martinez began talking to the restaurant manager about problems she was having in her marriage. She told the manager that she wanted to kill her husband and wanted him to do it.
She offered to pay him $500 up front and $1,000 to $2,000 when the job was done.
On February 4, 2012, court documents reveal that Brittany Martinez stopped by Casa Ole and dropped off $500 as a down payment.
At that time, the manager told her that he didn t want to commit the murder, but he would find someone to do it.
She responded by telling the manager that she didn t want to meet the person who was going to commit the murder.
On March 4, 2012, the restaurant manager told prosecutors that Brittany Martinez contacted him again and told him that she wanted the husband killed soon. She explained that she took money from the bank account and didn t want her husband to notice.
According to court documents, Brittany Martinez wanted her husband killed at work and dropped off her husband s work schedule for the months of March and April and circled the dates March 3, 2012 and March 4, 2012.
She wrote a note to the restaurant manager warning him that there are cameras located in the car lot across the street from her husband s work, so the killer should park down the street. She asked that the murder be done in the back parking lot.
The restaurant manager said Brittany Martinez told him that she didn t care what type of weapon was used, she just wanted the job done.
The restaurant manager taped at least one of their conversations about the murder-for-hire plot.
Martinez is currently out on bond. She will return to court in August to learn her fate.
