DAYTON, Texas — Harris County Precinct 3 deputies are investigating a threat made on social media regarding a school in Dayton ISD, district officials confirmed on social media Sunday night.
Dayton ISD officials said they had been informed about an alleged threat of a potential shooting at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School. The school is located on Highway 146 just south of Highway 90 in Dayton.
District officials said there is no validity to the threat at this time.
“We want to assure you that the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority,” the district said in their social media post.
They added that there would be an increased police presence on campus to support staff and students.
“We encourage parents and students to share any relevant information with their campus administration,” the district said.
The threat comes less than a week after a mass shooting at Apalachee High School near Atlanta, Ga. Four people were killed in the shooting while nine others were hospitalized.
