Two teens shot at park in north Houston, police say

Lt. Wilkens with the Houston Police Department said the two teens were minding their own business when they heard gunfire in the distance before being hit.

HOUSTON — Two teens were shot while hanging out at a park in north Houston Friday night, police say.

This happened around 10 p.m. at the park behind an apartment complex on Casa Grande Drive in the Greater Greenspoint area.

Lt. Wilkens with the Houston Police Department said the two boys were minding their own business when they heard gunfire in the distance before being hit. HPD said one of the teens is 16 years old and the other is either 18 or 19.

The 16-year-old was shot in the upper body and Wilkens said he was in "bad shape." The other victim was hit in the leg and is expected to be OK.

According to Wilkens, security video in the area shows the teens walking to the park but did not capture the incident.

"We don't have any descriptions on suspects or cars and no one else really saw anything," Wilkens said. "Our detectives are coming out, we're going to canvass the area. Hopefully we'll find something."
