Two charged in Harris County inmate's death

Deputies say an inmate identified as Patrick Brown was found unresponsive in a holding cell around 12:30 a.m. on April 5.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two inmates have been charged in another inmate's death in Harris County last week.

Harris County Sheriff's deputies say an inmate identified as Patrick Brown was found unresponsive in a holding cell around 12:30 a.m. on April 5. He was then transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 a.m. April 5.

Officials say their investigation immediately showed two inmates – identified as Curtis Maxwell and Ebenezer Nah – assaulted Brown. Based on deputies’ evidence handed over to the district attorney’s office, the two face charges of aggravated assault and serious bodily injury.

According to authorities, charges against these suspects may be upgraded, depending on the outcome of the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences’ investigation.
