HOUSTON — Houston police are looking for a suspect they say stole a family's newly purchased semi-truck right off the lot of a popular truck stop. The incident was captured on camera.
The family had just used all of their savings to buy this truck. The theft now leaves them with nothing, right before the holidays.
"Life is hard, but we're going to get through it," said Carey Jordan, a father of three.
It happened outside TA Express just off the South Freeway and Almeda Genoa Road. Carey and his wife, Danielle, say their family dream suddenly and unexpectedly turned into a nightmare.
"They [my family] entrusted me to use everything we had to buy this truck," said Carey. "I bought this new truck purchase. I had a job lined up. I decided to park here."
He returned just four days later and his new $45,000 semi-truck was gone.
"When I saw my spot, I saw another truck, I said 'Babe, where is my truck?'" Carey said.
Their worst fears were confirmed in surveillance video that captured a man breaking in and within three minutes, drove off.
"When I saw that video, that was it, that was my investment, that was my means of providing for my family that was gone," said Carey.
Management inside the truck stop didn't want to answer KHOU 11's questions. Houston police is now investigating.
"Now for Thanksgiving, we're worried about what's our next move," said Danielle.
The uncertainty comes at the worst possible time and after doing everything the right way to get ahead, it's enough to bring a grown man to tears.
"It's a truck to you," said Carey. "It's a game to you. But this is what I need to provide for my family. I don't care if you park that sucker on the side of the road and you don't want to put yourself into that situation. I just need that truck back."
Now this couple praying this video makes it to the right person who can help crack this case wide open.
"I've already experienced the anger, the sorrow that I have to feel right now," said Carey. "I just need a blessing. The holidays are coming. Something supernatural. I don't care what it is. I just want to provide for my family."
