BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas — A woman who feared for her life used the Text to 911 service to call for help, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office.

They said the woman texted 911 late Saturday night and reported she was being held in a vehicle against her will. She said she was with George Peters, who was intoxicated and had threatened to kill her.

Dispatchers quickly relayed critical details to responding units, who intercepted the vehicle and rescued the woman on SH-288.

Peters, of Houston, was arrested on multiple charges.

His relationship with the woman isn't clear.

No other details were released.

"This case underscores the importance of the Text to 911 service, which can be crucial for individuals in situations where making a voice call is unsafe. The service can experience delays, so always 'Call if you can, text if you can't,'" BCSO said.
