DRISCOLL, Texas -- The Driscoll fire chief, 43-year old Felipe Garza, was arrested at 1 p.m. Saturday at the offices of the Driscoll Volunteer Fire Department for aggravated sexual assault of a minor.
The arrest came after the family of a 12-year old girl filed a formal complaint with the Driscoll Police Department Friday. After questioning the victim, police and Texas Rangers felt there was enough evidence to arrest Garza.
According to sources close to the investigation, Garza broke down after he was arrested but did not resist when he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Nueces County Jail and his bond was set at $200,000.
Driscoll is about 30 minutes west of Corpus Christi.
