SPLENDORA, Texas — A major drug bust in Montgomery County resulted in nearly 30 kilograms (about 63 pounds) of cocaine being taken off the streets.
The Splendora Police Department said the bust happened Friday along Highway 59.
Police said they pulled over a vehicle due to a traffic violation, and during the stop, the officer suspected something nefarious.
Splendora police officials said the officer asked the driver for consent to search the vehicle but was denied.
They said a K-9 was at the scene and K-9 officer Ordy alerted the other officers of the presence of narcotics.
According to police, they got a probable cause search warrant and found a suitcase in the trunk that was filled with 28.5 kilograms of cocaine.
They said the drugs were heading to Michigan.
The driver was taken into custody and brought to the Montgomery County Jail. It's unclear what charges they'll be facing.
