Deputies detain several teens after teen found dead in barn, HCSO says

Investigators said several teens at the location may have been handling a pistol when it went off.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — We’re following breaking news out of northwest Harris County, where police say a teenager was found shot to death in a barn.

An investigation is underway in the Stone Creek neighborhood, and we’re working to gather more details. This is just north of the Grand Parkway and east of Mueschke Road, near the Tomball area.

What we know right now:

  • Deputies responded to a report of a male being shot on Stone Creek Court.
  • A 16-year-old was found dead with a gunshot wound in a barn behind a home.
  • Preliminary details suggest several teens may have been handling a pistol when it went off.
  • Several teens are being detained as part of the investigation.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez released preliminary details about what happened. He said deputies responded to a report of a male being shot. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a 16-year-old with a gunshot wound. 

The 16-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff said. Investigators said several teens at the location may have been handling a pistol when it went off.

Several teens are being detained as part of this investigation.
